Project Overview

Services • HR Portal Setup

Eco Outdoors was looking to create an HR portal for their staff where employees could access lessons that would familiarize them with Eco Outdoor’s extensive product offerings. On top of their outdoor furniture offerings Eco Outdoor also specializes in outdoor surface materials and they sell a wide range (of over 20) stone products.

On top of this there were also lessons for the various technologies and workflows used by the company, price lists/calculators and presentations for sales staff, templates and forms and many other documents that needed to be available in one centralized place.

While the initiative had started with a WordPress.com website – the company needed someone that could take the overall vision of what was created so far – and finalize and put things together for an easy to use password protected HR portal with all the information the staff would need and an easy way for Eco Outdoors to update the site.

Also the courses that were created in a Learning Platform called Rise would need to be integrated somehow into the WordPress platform.

My
Solution

My solution came in various parts – the first of which was to move their current HR platform away from WordPress.com due to its various limitations and install it on a new server and domain name. This involved migrating various pages over to the new domain through Elementor’s export function.

The biggest challenge – that we all agreed should be investigated and solved first – was how to integrate courses from Rise 360 – an e-learning solution – into the new WordPress system. Connecting different parts/software in a way that not only ensures that everything works – but that everything looks good and correct. Unfortunately there was currently no software/plugin that would integrate Rise 360 courses into WordPress. The final solution included a combination of a WordPress LMS plugin called LearnDash being integrated with a custom lesson page built with Elementor. The Rise 360 courses were imported with a plugin called TinCanny which allowed tracking of employees to see which courses they viewed and completed.

This was followed by importing all the course data into the new HR site which was an extensive procedure.

The site was then password protected (except for certain public pages) – and users were imported from a spreadsheet.

Testimonial

I’ve been working with Kosta for the past few months on a new learning platform for Eco Outdoor and he’s been fantastic to work with. Super easy to communicate with and great at partnering with me to build so that we can focus on content. I’d highly recommend Kosta and Head Studios. – Jen Stumbles / Director of Strategy, Communication & Culture @ Eco Outdoor Group
